The chalet for use both for the Client’s family and also for holiday lets, it is a popular area for international visitors for skiing or as a wonderful retreat.
The brief was to extend an existing chalet, more than doubling the size of the accommodation. To combine both new and old to create a seamless versatile accommodation which had to be adaptable depending on weather and season, for use for both winter skiing and summer hiking.
In winter the chalet will be cosy and warm with social rooms plus cinema and a spa suite.
In the summer the external ‘walls’ fold away opening up the chalet to the fresh mountain air, gardens and fantastic views.
The design concept was the celebration of local traditional materials predominately wood and stone with a focal fireplace, countered with contemporary furniture and layouts including a state of the art cinema space.
