Project Description

The client had bought the freehold to a large Victorian semi-detached house. The roof space was unused and of little utility and restricted head heights. DJADS were engaged to undertake a feasibility study to see what was possible.

Design

A proposal was developed for a two bedroom apartment with an external terrace which affords both an expansive view as well as letting in daylight. The internal quality of the apartment was made through very efficient layouts, high internal daylight levels and above code requirements for thermal and acoustic insulation.

Planning

Though the initial planning application was refused by the Planning authority, DJADS produced further studies and details to demonstrate that the rear full height large dormer and roof terrace were neither over bearing nor intrusive or reduced any neighbours internal daylight levels. Following receipt and review of the reports the application was approved.
